What We Lost

Hi! I've just released a new single! What We Lost is available from all of the usual places. I'm pretty happy with it to be honest, and can't wait to share the rest of the album with you. I've decided not to release the album for a while, as the overall sound keeps moving and changing and I want to give it time to get to where it needs to be. At the moment, it's looking like it will be a double album of some pretty vastly different styles. But even I'm not sure yet!

If you're in Sydney or Melbourne, I'd love to see you at one of the following shows. Brisbane, we'll see you soon enough:

Sydney: Saturday April 1 at Newtown Social Club with I Heart Hiroshima and The Last Exposure
Melbourne: Sunday April 2 with I Heart Hiroshima
Melbourne: Sunday April 9 at The Tote with Truly Holy
Melbourne: Thursday April 20 at Boney with Cool Explosions
Melbourne: Thursday April 27 at the Grace Darling with Spirit Bunny, Life Strike and Wars.

2017

2016 was a doozie, wasn't it? I got a lot out of it but it also got a lot out of me. We got to play some amazing line ups (including the residency throughout October at the Yarra), I recorded my first cover (Kid Cudi's Day N' Nite - listen here), recorded an album for our other project Heat Wave (coming out this year - you can hear the first single Dead End Town here), and had a bit of a break from doing Astral Skulls full time.

2017 is another story. I've got about 30 new songs started from the time since contact:light came out, and I can't wait to finish some of them. I've started writing more and more, which is awesome as I get to just choose the best ones for whatever I do next. I'm planning on releasing another album this year - possibly two - and am really looking forward to getting stuck into it.

We've got a couple of shows booked, first up is at Northcote Social Club Monday January 16 with Teeth and Tongue and Jade imagine. Come along!

xKurt

A song a day 3: Voices

The third song and first official single off contact:light is Voices. There are a few things going on in Voices, and I kind of want to leave it up to the listener to decide what they think it's all about. It's one of my favourite songs off the album, and has an incredible film clip which you can find at youtube.com/astralskulls.
I feel like this song sums up the mood of the album best for me - it's the in between, which is a running theme.

A song a day 2: Contact

The second track off contact:light is about the fear and confusion humans feel when faced with new visitors, the false sense of ownership we have over Earth, and the way that we interact with each other - within our communities and without - in times of change.
Contact will be the second single off the album, and will be launched alongside an incredible new film clip shortly.
